Welcome to Andalusia School!

We are a Pre-K through 12th Grade Islamic School located in Yonkers NY. We are accredited by NYSED and are a chapter of  MAS-UNY, and are an approved and registered member of SUNY, College Board and NYS Board of Regents.

Our Story

Andalusia Islamic School, a fully accredited, full-time, Pre-K to 12th religious educational institution, is a division of MAS-UNY, which is a subchapter of the Muslim American Society.

MAS-UNY is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to serving the Muslim American community in Yonkers and Westchester County. Through its various departments, MAS-UNY offers unique programs and services that seek to develop our youth by imparting Islamic knowledge, promoting community service, and advocating leadership and quality character.

As the educational arm of MAS-UNY, our school has been in the business of molding the next Muslim American generation of community builders, knowledgeable scholars and contributing citizens. Promoting the intellectual, socio-emotional and spiritual development of each student.

FAQ's

Yes, we are accredited by the New York State Education Department. All core subjects are taught at Andalusia in addition to Quran, Arabic and Islamic Studies which are offered daily.

Average of 20-25 students for each teacher in Middle and High School. Average of 12 students for each teacher in Elementary school. Elementary classrooms have an assistant teacher also.

95% of Andalusia’s teachers have a Bachelors degree and years of successful classroom experience. Over 50% are state certified teachers or have advanced degrees.

Andalusia partnered with Concordia College and offered four college credit courses for several years before the Pandemic. Since Concordia College closed down in 2020, Andalusia is anticipated to partner with another college to again offer college credit courses that will accepted by colleges. Many students entered college with the college credits earned at Andalusia. We hope to bring a similar program to Andalusia beginning September 2022 in sha’Allah.

Yes, Andalusia has a Formal Dress Code for 4th to 12th graders.

Standard dress code rules that apply to all students are:

  1. Sweaters / sweatshirts / jackets worn during the school day must be solid navy blue or black. High school students are permitted also to wear gray. No hoods (“hoodies”) are permitted.
  2. Shoes must be solid black color.
  3. No open toe shoes or sandals are permitted.
  4. No jewelry or perfume.
  5. No make-up or nail polish.
  6. Hair (boys) must be trimmed above the collar and out of eyes.
  7. Solid white hijab (head scarf) and school jilbab must be worn by all female students from grades four through twelve.

Detailed dress code rules can be obtained when registering your child/children.

Limited seats are available and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. There is no set deadline but we encourage you to apply as soon as possible to ensure seat availability . Admissions remains open as long as classes are not full.

Andalusia will Insha’ Allah resume its participation in the UPK4 Program beginning September 2022. We do offer full day Pre-k at the Elementary rate of tuition.

For the last several years, we have offered tuition assistance through donations given specifically for this purpose. Due to the pandemic, we had to temporarily suspend the program. We do have funding from a community scholarship fund for students who achieve academic excellence and display Islamic Adab. Students who achieve Honor roll, High honor roll, or Principal’s List are given a scholarships of up to $1000 per student. For families whose children have achieved and are in need of financial assistance, the scholarships can range from $1500 to $2500.00

Yes, we have a full service commercial kitchen where halal meals are cooked and served daily.

Andalusia School offers free bussing from the Bronx with pick up and drop off at the Bronx Muslim Center on Rhinelander Ave. In Westchester county, public school districts offer free bus service within twenty-five miles of Andalusia. Families must contact their local school supervisor in charge of transportation to request service. For families in the Bronx and upper Manhattan we have for the past several years offered private bus service for a fee. Please inquire about bussing service when applying to Andalusia. 

Currently, the Federal and state governments only allow tax deductions for Higher education i.e. College and University studies
